Whether you’re an experienced marijuana connoisseur or simply a novice toker, it’s incredibly easy to fall behind when it comes to the hip, mainstream ways to smoke your green. Needless to say, the pleasures of rolling a joint or hitting the bong eventually lose their novelty and you may look to a new method of cannabis consumption. Why not dabbing?

What exactly is “dabbing”?

To put it simply, for all those stoners who already have their bowls packed, dabbing is a method of consuming concentrated cannabis oil by dropping a small amount on a hot surface and allowing it to vaporize. This allows the user to receive the most potent effect and flavor of the oil.

Dabs are made by extracting THC and other cannabinoids using a solvent like butane or carbon dioxide, which results in a sticky oil that is commonly referred to as wax, shatter, budder and hash oil.

How does dabbing work?

Your first step would be to buy shatter online or purchase another preferred cannabis concentrate. Next, you will need to decide which smoking receptacle that you would like to use. The most common choice for dabbing is a glass pipe, which is often referred to as a dab ring.

So, you understand the basics… now what?

The proper dab setup consists of a few pieces the rig itself (what you want to smoke out of), the nail (the metal or quartz piece that is attaches to the rig and is heated up), the dabber (the dentist-like tool that holds the dab of concentrate) and a torch to heat up the concentrate.

Why should you dab?

When it comes down to the chemical components, well-made dabs are a much cleaner method of cannabis consumption. This is because they’re free of plant matter and any carcinogens that can be consumed from smoking.

Another added bonus is that you don’t need as much concentrate to get you high. Not to mention, dab vapor also doesn’t have the same overwhelming skunk-like smell that its plant matter counterpart does.

What are some dabbing concerns?

The main issue with dabs is that many inexperienced people choose to make their own compounds at home. This can be dangerous, especially if they’re dealing with flammable solvents. That’s why we recommend that you buy shatter online in order to avoid any potential for future home explosions.

Bottom line is, you should probably only dab if you’re looking for something with a higher level of potency or flavor than traditional weed or if you have a consistent and verified source of quality concentrate.

Have you ever dabbed? How did you experiences compare with other more traditional methods? Tell us in the comments section below.

I have used dabbing for a while now. I love the method of consumption, it’s clean and easy on the throat. I prefer using the honey extract for this opposed to shatter or hash oil. I strongly suggest if doing for the first time to use a very small amount as it is a concentrate.
